When & Why did you start scrapbooking? When I was pregnant with Harper and my husband was deployed, I went to a Close to My Heart party. That's how this obsession began and I've never looked back. ;)

Guilty Pleasures? White Wine, McDonalds Happy Meal cheeseburgers, US Weekly, Reality television

Two things you want very badly at this moment? My husband home safe and in my arms, a looong massage while somebody keeps the babies.

3 items that are in your purse? Baby wipes, Kiehls lip balm, my iPhone

Favorite Scrapbook Technique or Style? Vintage/Modern mix

When do you feel most creative? When I have new (to me, not necessarily newly made) goodies to play with and precious photos to look at.

Do you snack while you scrapbook? If so what? never. I have never eaten and scrapped at the same time.

Do you have a scrapbook confession? I never have a plan when I start a page. I don't "sketch" my layouts or plan my journaling. I don't use "design rules". I just do whatever makes me happy.

Favorite TV Shows? Arrested Development, The Office, The Soup, Curb Your Enthusiasm

Jobs you've had? hostess at a pizza/ wine bar, teacher, substitute teacher, running a wine store, running a book store, working at a woman's boutique, clerk at a water sports store, working at my dad's office (oil and gas),

What are you listening to right now? the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse theme song, Sadie blowing raspberries

Contest Reminder and a Layout

When I was pregnant with my first, the digital SLR age was not upon me. It was out there and others were basking in it's glory, but I sadly, was not. I did not even know I could have someone come out and take maternity and newborn pictures for me. Fast forward to my second and that had all changed. I was all about getting some "pro" maternity and newborn shots. I'm so glad I did! I emailed a Photographer, Shannon Montez, and asked her to take these pictures for us. It was a wonderful experience and I'm so grateful I have these pictures because Shannon was able to capture the emotions of my oldest around his new baby brother. This is something I could have never done during this time of transition for our family. The main picture on this layout is our favorite picture because our oldest is just beaming with pride over his new brother. His face clearly shows his emotions and that makes it really meaningful to us.

I really love working with Lily Bee paper. It's so easy to use because it's so well designed. It's easy to see from all the amazing layouts/projects you guys are doing with Lily Bee, that it's not just me who feels this way. This layout I'm sharing, today, is really fast and easy to create. Here's how:

Tools needed:

Sewing Machine (or needle and thread or a pen)

Adhesive

Paper trimmer

Circle cutter

Paper edger (or scissors)

Supplies needed:

Lily Bee-

2 sheets Three Little Birds "So Sweet"

Three Little Birds "Birdie Frames Die Cuts"

Other-

Alphabet stickers

Misc matching buttons

Brown ink

White cardstock (for journaling strips)

Step by Step:

1. Print or have printed a 5.5" x 7.5" photo (the extra half an inch is for the white border) and a collage of three 1.5" x 1.5" photos.

2. Cut three 3" circles from the polka dot side of one of the papers.

3. Use a paper edger to rough up the edges of each circle. If you don't have a paper edger you can use the inside edge of your scissors on a cutting mat.

4. Ink the edges of each circle with brown ink.

5. Cut one circle in half.

6. Sew (or draw with pen) around the edge of each circle. On the half circle only sew or draw around the curved side.

7. Adhere the larger photo on top of the postmark-edged die cut frame leaving 3" of the frame to the left side of the photo.

8. On the green side of your second paper, lay down, but do not adhere, the photo/die cut centered and 1.5" from the bottom of the page.

9. Adhere a full circle half way under the photo/die cut on the top left side about 1.5" from the left edge of the die cut.

10. Adhere a full circle under the bottom right corner of the photo.

12. Adhere your photo/die cut in place on the page.

13. Sew or draw with pen around the upper right corner of the photo.

14. Sew or draw with pen around the bottom left corner of the photo/die cut.

15. Adhere the other photo to the die cut frame leaving room between both photos for a title.

16. Adhere the title between and on top of your two photos.

17. Adhere the half circle to the right side of the page 1.25" down from the top.

18. Starting from one side, adhere 6 buttons around each circle.

19. Print journaling onto white cardstock and cut it into strips.

20. Ink the edges and adhere the strips to the upper right side of the page.

That's it!

We were drawn to the inventive way she fanned our die cut papers out to use as photo mats.




Love Love Love this layout by Suzanne Quillen. The damask on the French Couture die cut she chose adds the perfect amount of softness to this sweet layout.




We found this creative page by tracyP. as we were strolling through the gallery at Scrapbook.com. The way she tore and stacked our papers is just plain cool!





And last but certainly NOT least...or shall we say "the icing on the cake"...

Label Tulip Kits

We are thrilled to have our French Couture Papers featured in April's Label Tulip Kit. Label Tulip always offers a surprise, and is known for masterfully blending the unexpected. Their desire is to mix and match, to play with styles and themes that step outside the box. They design kits to help you celebrate your creativity, and this month's kits is filled with plenty of goodies to keep the celebration goin' until the break of dawn! Just Be Me CONTEST

Hi Everyone,

We are very excited to hold our very first contest. We want to know about you! Below are the official rules:

1. Create a Mini Album around the theme "Just Be Me"
2. ALL papers used must be Lily Bee Design, however you may use other manufacturer's alphas, embellishments, etc. in your album
3. CASH Prizes will be awarded to 1st-$100.00, 2nd-$50.00 and 3rd Place-$25.00. PLUS the 1st place winner will be a Guest Designer for the month of July 2009(yes, new product may be involved!)
4. International Entries are welcome.
5. One Entry per person.
6. To submit please link your entry on the Lily Bee Blog.
7. Entries are due no later than Friday, May 29th @ 10pm MST
8. Winners will be notified by Friday, June 5th.

This week I had a hard time choosing, so I decided to share them all!

I think this project is so original, and it makes me happy!




Next we have Pearl.
Pearl sent us a couple of links and I just had to share this layout using French Couture papers.
It is all wrapped up like a beautiful gift, and the inking really makes it special.

Deanna loves LB products and sent us three links!
I just had to share this lovely layout, the sweet simplicity immediately put a smile on my face.
This layout uses the French Couture patterned papers and die cuts.





Marianne used Three Little Birds on some adorable pages,
i really like the pattern combinations and oversized flower she used here:



jacQ rocked the lily bee die cuts. This was my favorite of hers, using
French Couture. The layering is fantastic!



The super talented Kristii made five layouts using her Color Me Daisy kit.
I wanted to share this layout, using French Couture.
I love her bold pattern choices, this layout is just so beautiful.
