Guest Designer | September | Wendy Sue Anderson | Autumn Spice | Day 4

Hi Lily Bee fans! It's Thursday and that means it's time for another installment of our weekly Guest Designer post.
Since it's the last Thursday in September, unfortunately that means its time to say goodbye to our wonderfully talented September Guest Designer, Wendy Sue Anderson. We've adored having Wendy Sue join us here on the blog this past month, and know you have too! 

Before we say goodbye, though, Wendy has brought us one last beautiful and inspiring layout using our new collection, Autumn Spice! Here's what Wendy Sue had to say about her last project for this month. 

For my final guest-designer project, I created a layout featuring the gorgeous Autumn Spice collection.  I decided to go all-out-fall and I cut a bunch of leaves with my Silhouette. Then I used the beautiful leaves to create a border along the side of my page.

I simply lined them up (slightly overlapping) and stitched them right down the center. Then I tucked in some banner stickers and layered buttons over the top. 

I cut apart a journaling card so I could add the "october" banner to the little title collage.  The word "hello" was also cut with my silhouette.  

See those little striped leaves tucked behind the photo in the top right corner?  Those are actually the pieces from the negative portions of the cut-out word (the loop in the h and an l).  

Thanks again for allowing me to share some of my work with all of you over the past month - it's truly been an honor!  Happy Autumn!

Autumn Spice | Inspiration Day 3

Hi Lily Bee fans! Today is the third and final day of our Design Team inspiration using Autumn Spice! We've got some fun inspiration today including lots of cards and a spook-tacular home decor project! So grab a cuppa coffee and enjoy these projects from Danielle, Cindy and Amy!

First up are some gorgeous cards from Danielle. Let's read what she had to say about her cards.I have two fall cards to share made with Lily Bee's new Autumn Spice line. Love the colors!  On this card, I used a Papertrey Ink die called Photo Finish Strips to cut the red strip with an Autumn Spice sticker in the middle. Before adhering it, I added a mini clothespin to hang a sentiment, stamped with the new Autumn Spice stamps! Tag is cut with the Tiny Tags die by Papertrey Ink. On the next card, I pulled out my beloved Maple Leaf punch again (by Fiskars, I believe). I have gotten so much use out of this punch! The little fall journaling card was so cute, I had to use it on my card. Inspired by the tab on the top, I cut another tabbed piece with my Desktop File: Inspiration die (center die) to tuck behind from one of the beautiful papers.

The mini clothespins were just from the craft supply store, but a fun addition.

And a little bit of twine tops off the fall-ish feel! You really can't go wrong mixing and matching these papers, they are gorgeous together! Thanks, Danielle! They are beauti-fall! :)

Next up, Cindy brings us some adorable bats that she's used in her own home to decorate for this festive time of the year. Take a look

 

 

 
I just love how she's created so many of them and made it look like they are flying out of her fireplace cave. Spooky and beautiful at the same time! The layers and the additions of the little baubles on the wings are the perfect touch! 

Last up, I have a couple cards to share as well. 
For this card, I used the negative space from several leaf cut outs I made using my Cameo for a previous project, to use as the center piece of my card. I used various papers from my Autumn Spice 6x6 paper pad to fill in those leaves and create lots of color and texture. Then I layered a couple different stickers from the Autumn Spice Mixed Cardstock Stickers to create my sentiment in the bottom corner. Sometimes I forget that it's "ok" to cut up printed stickers to create my own look for a project, and I'm glad I remembered that here, because I really like the effect.
 

For my next card, I used one of the Autumn Spice Index Journaling cards to showcase my sentiment

To give it extra flair, I stitched along the printed banner several times and left the ends loose and exposed, helping to create that celebratory feel. 

Then, lastly, I created my sentiment using the Autumn Spice ABC stickers. Using two different colors helps to add "pop" and bring your eye straight to the message. I also accentuated that by using the brown buttons that lead the eye straight down. By using the brown on the deep walnut paper, the buttons add dimension, but don't distract from the sentiment.

Autumn Spice Week / Inspiration Day 2

Can't get enough of Autumn Spice can ya?!  I'm certain you can't because it is simply beautiful and it's hitting stores now!  The rich colors and patterns are absolutely perfect for fall themed projects but can mix equally well in everyday types of themes.

Patricia and I took totally different directions with our projects.  Have a peek and let us know what you think in the comments below.  

Patricia shares that 'this collection lives up to its name. There is something about the colors of Fall.  They are so striking and colorful, and that touch of country blue adds to the cozy look of this line. I chose a non-Fall photo taken at Easter time, but the colors of the line went perfectly with the restaurant's country theme, and I really wanted to show off the gorgeous colors from this line. I mixed both the 12x12 patterns and the 6x6 tiny tablets. I also mixed some of the stamps into my design, using "details" as a border under the photo, using "2012" on one of the pointed stars, the arrows at the bottom, and the heart on the cut out circle.'

I love that Patricia allows the ABC stickers to remain slightly lifted, giving texture to her layout.

 Her stitching adds both color and detail.  She's created a wonderful stamped border using the 'Details' stamp that adds texture but still remains subtle.

In contrast to Patricia's layout, I'm (Ursula) sharing a very scaled down version in terms of details.  While I absolutely adore adding lots of little touches, for this page, I really wanted the photo to be the shining star (or leaf as it were).

I used my Silhouette SD to cut out several different leaf shapes in the Red, Orange and Yellow papers to mimic the color and feel of fall as well as to cut the word 'changes'. I cut the word 'fall' from one of the journaling cards to fit with my title. (Love cutting premade elements up and making them my own.)

I wanted to create a small banner using twine,which always feels like fall to me.  I even got to break out some copper toned brads that have been in 'ye olde stash' for a good 8 or 10 years!

I am loving adding pop-up adhesive dots to the back of lots of elements so they will fairly jump off the page.

If you've got a photo that you really want to allow to shine, just choose a few simple embellishments and print that thing as big as you can.  In my case, I printed on my home printer using 8.5x14 paper and printing at 12 inches wide.

Autumn Spice Week | Inspiration Day 1

 

Good morning, everyone! Melissa Stinson, Melissa Mann, and Patricia Roebuck are up on deck today to kick off a week of fall inspiration featuring Lily Bee's new Autumn Spice collection.

Melissa Mann starts things off with a lovely card that puts the collection's 6x6 Tiny Tablet paper pad and mixed cardstock stickers to work. 

 

I love how Melissa used the pennant stickers to create both a banner and a star on her card- there are so many possibilities when it comes to these simple little triangle stickers. 

 

Patricia documented a traditional Halloween activity with her Autumn Spice layout- I love these beautiful photos of her adorable daughter painting on a pumpkin!

 

 

Patricia created lots of lovely layers on her page while still keeping the lines neat and clean, and she made use of her die cutter and other tools to create her own tags and other shapes from Autumn Spice papers.

 

 

 

 

I chose to go with a Thanksgiving theme for my page, documenting one of my favorite things to cook as part of Thanksgiving dinner. 

 

Yes, I love a yummy pecan pie, and I carried that pie theme over to the rest of my page with a paper-pieced pie chart and a few of those triangle stickers that I mentioned earlier that in this case look an awful lot like pie slices!

Persnickety Week | Inspiration Day 5

Hey everyone, TGIF & welcome!

To round out this weeks Persnickety inspiration, Melissa M. & I (Cindy) have created some fabulous to share with our Lily Bee fans today.

I altered a black wooden frame I purchased a while back that I couldn't resist. I wanted to document our Anniversary trip my husband and I made together earlier this summer. During our visit to the Outer Banks, we drove down to Cape Hatteras Lighthouse. A place I have always wanted to visit.

I used the 6x6 Tiny Tablet to create the 4x6 decorative side of the frame and used punches to add die-cut embellishments, which are layered with Mixed Cardstock Stickers, ABC Stickers and Clear Stamps set.

The photos I used in my frame were slightly muted, one tone color, which allowed for the Persnickety color and design palette to pop and compliment the photos.

I also love how well the bold zig-zag patterns and shapes mixes with my homes color scheme.

Melissa's Turning 31 layout is adorable with elements of layers upon layers of pattern papers that are mixed with subtle vellum accents and hues of greens and blues.

Adding the hidden journaling is something I love that Melissa adds to her scrapbook pages. It's another way to adding detail to your scrapbook design and letting your curiosity wonder, but allowing her photos speak for themselves.

She also created a lovely background accent using the Persnickety Clear Stamps, stamping the images in different layers of ink. It adds subtle touches of texture to her overall scrapbook page. LOVE!

Guest Designer | September | Wendy Sue Anderson | Persnickety | Day 4

Hi Lily Bee fans! It's Thursday and our Guest Designer for September, Wendy Sue Anderson is back helping us to create projects using our fantastic new collection, Persnickety!

Let's take a look at what Wendy created and what she had to say about using our Persnickety collection!

Hi again!  It's Wendy Sue and I am so happy to be joining you again today here on the Lily Bee blog.
Today I have an 8 1/2" x 11" layout to share with you. I just love the chevron design on the Persnickety papers, and I love having the options of lighter colors AND darker colors that work so well together too!  For this layout, I chose to use several of the lighter shades available in the set. 
I think these colors look so fresh and clean with black and white photos. (I had converted the photos to black and white because the colors were so bright and crazy!)  My layout is simple, but using the simple strips of patterned paper, my all-time favorite letter stickers, combined with the pennant stickers and one simple sentiment sticker, it has just the right balance of color, design, and meaning - I love that my kids just love being together...every day is a celebration!! :)  

What a wonderful layout, Wendy and with such meaning! I just love how she framed her title with the Persnickety banner stickers, don't you! Fantastic inspiration! Thanks so much for joining us again, this week, Wendy!

Persnickety Week | Inspiration Day 3

Thank you for coming by for day 3 of Persnickety Inspiration.  Ursula and Patricia with you today to share some cards.  What I have found using the Persnickety is it is both bold and soft depending on what you want to create.  The patterns work so well together as you will see in the cards we've created for you today.  Here is a card from Ursula.

Ursula shares:  I always enjoy creating depth, whether on a card or a layout.  Many times, that means layers.  Here, I layered several sizes of clouds that I had die cut from various pattern papers within the Persnickety Collection.  The blues and greys lend themselves beautifully to the idea of clouds so this collection was the right choice for my design.

To create the feeling of the wind moving the clouds along, I sewed some wavy lines above which both added movement and created a border for the top of my card.

Since the ABC stickers have so many of each letter, you can easily get a whole sentence out of one set of letters.  Love that!

For my cards, I wanted to show off the patterns in the collection by using repetition in these first two cards.  The first one also uses the doily stamp embossed in white on top of the navy demin paper.  I love the bold and striking effect it makes with both a modern and a vintage look.  The quilted squares were made with the 12x12 sheets, while the strips of paper in the middle were with the 6x6 tiny tablet.  Love the look of the large and the small chevrons and polka dots together.

This is another card using repetition with the butterflies and circles using the 12x12 papers, and adding the "thanks" sentiment and hearts from the stamp collection.

This last card is very feminine and dainty.  I used the 6x6 tiny tablet and a journaling index card under the the flower I die cut and added the sticker on top with pop dots.

Persnickety Week | Inspiration Day 2

Welcome to day 2 of a week of Persnickity inspiration. Today we have a layout and several cards showing off more of this wonderfully versatile line. Summer took on a layout that shows off the chevron prints while Amy made cards that feature our 6x6 pads and cardstock stickers.

Persnickity is such a versatile line. The denim in this line is fabulously masculine while the pale yellow and pink is so very girly. I loved taking this line reto with some old scanned photos from my childhood.

Amy Heller put together 2 fabulous cards showing off the Persnickity 6x6 paper pad and cardstock stickers.

This second card features a super fun basket weave technique. I love how Amy took small strips of the 6x6 pad and wove them to create a fun background base for her card.

Next up , Ursula created this bold and masculine layout.

Ursula used our index journaling cards, cardstock abc stickers and our Persnickety Collection kit. What a fun page!

I love how Ursula used our Persnickety clear stamps to create this darling frame on her page. Very fun!

And look at that custom made brad she created with our Prissy paper! It addes so much texture to her page! Fun!

A Weekend Tutorial with Anna-Maria

 
Hi everybody, Anna-Maria here today, and it's Saturday!!! So we start the scrappy weekend today. For the begining of this awesome free time I propose you a simple tutorial made with Lily Bee 6x6 Tiny Tablets.

I made a layout using some Lily Bee collections and washi tapes. I would like to show you how can you create an easy and very attractive background for your layouts. You can also use this technic in your albums and cards! It's so easy to make and - what is very important - you can ajust colour palette to your photos every time.

Ok, let's start.

You will need a piece of white cardstock, some papers (I use Lily Bee Tiny Tablets 6x6) and masking tapes.The first step you should start in the corner. You have to cut a piece of paper and past it in the corner of the cardstock. Then you should cut a stripe from the other paper - and stick it.

You can use different papers and also masking tape. Using tape is much easier, because you don't have to cut the stripes :)When you finishe to embellishement the whole cardstock (remember you can leave some white stripes also), you have to cut it into a few pieces. They don't have to be simmilar in their width.Supplies Used:  Double Dutch, Handemade, Buttercup collections

Now when you have the cardstock in pieces you have to compose those stripes into interesting composition and stick everything on other cardstock.

Then just past this composition into your layout, add the picture and other embellishements on your base.

The layout with a stripe area is ready.

I showed you the whole process made with pastel tones (the layout I published when we were proposed you the colour challenge on Lily Bee blog), but I also prepared the second example of using this techinic - with different palette coming from Victoria Park collection.

Supplies Used: Buttercup Collection (Flower Pot paper), Victoria Park (Tiny Tablet 6x6,  Mixed Cardstock Stickers, ABC Cardstock Sticker, Index Journal Cards)

The Everyday of Project Life

Happy Friday!  Patricia and Melissa Mann here today to share our Project Life with you.

I love all of the details of Melissa's Project Life.  Here is what Melissa had to say about her Project Life this week:

I kept it simple this week! I cut out the small card shapes from the Persnickety Tiny Tablet and stapled a photo taken with Instagram to each one. I then cut out a piece of vellum for each card and used various stamps from the Autumn Spice collection and stamped the pieces of vellum. This stamp set works perfectly for Project Life! I love all of the various words and phrases! I then used the mixed stickers and journal cards to embellish my other photos. For one of the 4x6 pockets on the right side, I stitched a piece of vellum over white cardstock to make a pocket. I wrote out some journaling on one of the index cards and slipped it into the pocket. I also slipped a few other Instagram photos from the week into the pocket.

Lately, I have been keeping mine to just one page spread.  I don't spend as much time on Project Life as I would a layout or card.  So I usually first grab papers for the background that have small prints.  I cut out tabs, circles, clouds, and "week" and "shine" with the die cutting machine, so I had those on hand to grab when I needed.  I couldn't resist using some of the stamps from Autumn Spice.  Like Melissa said, they are perfect for Project Life.  But I also used some of the Double Dutch stamps...the days of the week are also perfect for Project Life.

Guest Designer | September | Wendy Sue Anderson

Happy Thursday, everyone! Wendy Sue Anderson is back this week as our Guest Designer for September with a darling card set using Persnickety!
First up, before we get to her projects, we had a few fun questions to ask Wendy Sue to get to know her just a bit more.

My favorite scrapbook supply:  This is a hard one, but if I had to choose just one, it would be patterned paper.  If I could choose two, I'd add buttons.  If I could add a tool, it would my sewing machine. :)

Something we don't know about you:  I love junior mints and diet coke...but not at the same time.  I always (always, always) wear socks when I sleep.  My fourth baby was the New Year's Baby in our county!

3 Things in your purse:  chapstick, gum, and lots of receipts that I need to go through...

How long have you been Scrapbooking?  Forever!  (Truly - my mom let us help glue things in our scrapbooks when we were little...)

Favorite Food:  I am kind of boring in the food area.  I love bruschetta chicken...and that's about as daring as I get! ;)

I am excited to share a card set I created with the new Persnickity line.  I just love the chevron design in such a fun color palette - and the coordinating designs are just beautiful!  I used this set exclusively to create my card set.  The design is simple, but I am really pleased with the result. 

Would you like to know just how simple it is?  Here are the steps: 

1.  Cut patterned paper to 5" square
2.  Cut coordinating paper (or opposite side) to 4" square and attach to center of the 5" square
3.  Cut a piece of vellum to 4" and stitch over middle square with coordinating thread
4.  Punch two small holes on the left and right side of the smaller square - about 1" from the top - tie baker's twine through the holes with a bow on the left side
5.  Layer two Persnickity stickers (using foam pop dots for the top sticker) and place in the bottom right corner of vellum block
6.  Mount entire piece to an off-white card base that measures 5 1/4" square.
Easy!!

Cards on Wednesday

Happy Wednesday! Melissa is here today to share a greeting card made with the new "Persnickety" collection! The new collections have been shipping and are available at Two Peas in a Bucket. 

This new collection features a lovely color scheme and I love the scaled down designs featured in the Tiny Tablets!

I used the stamp set in the "Persnickety" collection and used the polaroid stamp and the "thanks" sentiment stamp.
