Happy Thursday, everyone! Each month, here at Lily Bee Design we feature a new Guest Designer to share their inspiring work using our products. Today we welcome our Guest Designer for October, the super talented,
Marcy Penner! Let's get to know Marcy a bit more!
I'm a pretty simple girl.
I am married to my high school sweetheart and we have three kids (Molly , Jack and Max). For the last 12 years we've been living on the family farm, homeschooling for the last 2 years and renovating a 120 year old farmhouse in Canada. Yes. Still renovating! ;) I'm a major homebody so country life is a great fit for me!
Back in the day I earned my Bachelor of Education degree, but an artistic life has always been calling my name (I come from a long line of artists) I'm always busy doing something creative... photography (sometimes shooting others, but enjoying shooting my own family the most), scrapbooking, decorating... you name it! I love that scrapbooking combines so many of my hobbies into one! It's the perfect fit.
I gravitate towards pale colors and am not afraid to use white... both in my scrapbooking and in my home. I love incorporating layers and tone-on-tone designs, all while keeping a simple style. You'll always find stitching on my pages somewhere.
You can find me at my blog, Hello Forever (www.marcypenner.com), and hanging out on Twitter and Instagram. I also design for October Afternoon, Studio Calico and am a Garden Girl over at Two Peas in a Bucket.
I'm so excited to be here at Lilybee this month.
Because Marcy lives in Canada, it's taking a little longer than we expected for her to get her products, so today we''re going to get to know Marcy just a bit more with a little questionnaire we've prepared for her. She'll be back next week to share her lovely work with us using Lily Bee products!
1) What or who is your preferred subject to scrap?
My kids
2) What did you want to be when you were a kid?
A cop and a stewardess... at the same time.
3) Watch TV or listen to music when you scrap? What's your favorite (group or show)?
TV. Right now Supernatural and Fringe.
4) What are you most inspired by?
Probably texture and color... or the absense of it.
5) How much time per/day week do you devote to scrapping?
Although I work all lot on scrapbooking "things" and obligations the actual glue-to-paper doesn't happen as much as I'd like. Maybe 4 hours a week?
6) How much time per/day week do you devote to looking for inspiration?
I don't sit down and say, "okay, now let's look for ideas". I try to just be conscious of my surroundings throughout the day and try to see things in a new way.
7) Do you eat or drink while you scrap? If so what's your go-to munchie/drink?
I'm trying to ease up on the cola... so right now it's iced tea (which probably isn't any better).
8) How long have you been in your current scrap space and how long did it take you to get it the way it is currently?
I've been in my scrap space for probably 5 years now. It's been comfortable for the last two. One day we plan on building on and making my space larger to incorporate a school room in the existing space.
9) What's your biggest challenge?
Right now my biggest challenge is to find a routine now that we've started homeschooling again. To fit in scrapbooking and work so that I can be available to my family in the evenings. It's tough.
10) Favorite scrapbooking product to work with besides paper?
Rats. Paper's my favorite! Ha. I love labels and washi tape a lot.
11)List five words that describe you as a person.
Loyal. Creative. Introvert. Devoted. Stubborn.
12) List five words that describe your scrapping style.
Light. Layered. Simple. Fun. Controlled Chaos - is that a word?
13) Do you shoot in manual mode on your camera? If so how long did it take you to learn?
Manual for sure. Not to long. I transitioned to manual by using AV mode for a while. I think that was a good step along the way.
14) Where is the furthest you've ever traveled?
We drive down to Florida every Spring. From where I live in Canada that's a 32 hour drive (one way)!
Thanks so much for joining us today, Marcy! We are all looking forward to seeing your projects next week!
Thanks for stopping by today! We're looking forward to Kristen's post tomorrow - AND a special post on Saturday to celebrate World Card Making Day! So be on the lookout for that! Have a super day! :)
How fun!!!! Can't wait to see what she has created this month!!!
