Scraplift Challenge

Hello there! It's Becky and Melissa here with you today to share a new designer challenge.

Do you ever feel like you are stuck in a rut with your scrapbooking?

Have you ever felt like you didn't know how to scrapbook anymore?

I have certainly been in both of those situations so I thought it would be fun to try something that is sure to cure your scrapbooking woes.

If you are having a hard time coming up with a page design one thing you can do is scraplift a page that has inspired you- it could be something you created in the past or something by another scrapbooker. If you do scraplift someone else, make sure to always give proper credit and you could even contact the person to let them know what you've done. I bet they would enjoy seeing that their work inspired a page of your own!

For our challenge today Melissa and I scraplifted other members of the Lily Bee design team.

Melissa was inspired by this layout created by the amazing Nicole Nowosad:

Melissa says, "I loved this layout by Nicole Nowosad! The only thing I really changed was instead of the patchworked look at the top part of the slant, I made it go straight across the upper portion of my layout. Thank you, Nicole, for the wonderful inspiration!"

Here is Melissa's take:

Melissa said, " I had a hard time coming up with a layout for the 'Focus on Winter' theme this week. In Florida, we don't have the typical snoy, cold winter that other parts of the country have. I was looking through my photos trying to find something I could use and ran across these pictures of my dog, Lucy. It struck me that she always finds a patch of sunlight near the window during the winter and naps in it! She is such a silly girl!"

I had an easy time choosing a page to lift because I LOVED this layout that Cindy created for CHA using the new Pinwheel collection. I liked the horizontal strips of paper across the page, how she tucked her photos under the left edge, how she added embellishments randomly on the page.

Here is Cindy's beautiful layout:

I stayed pretty true to Cindy's design except that instead of using strips of the same width, I varied those and also overlapped the pieces at an angle instead of having them go straight across the page. I also placed my journaling at the bottom of the page and used randomly placed embellishments.

Just as Cindy did, I brought some attention to the different strips of paper only I used twine instead of stitching and die-cut paper pieces. Thank you for your beautiful inspiration, Cindy!
