Designer Choice | Focus on Easter & Spring

Good morning crafters, Summer here today with a little Easter inspiration. While it seems so many of my crafting friends all over the country are still experiencing winter I have been blessed with beautiful weather. It makes crafting spring projects a no brainer.

Lately I have been inspired by so many of the 3x4 Project Life elements I see all over the internet. While I myself don't scrapbook Project LIfe I still like the idea of working with the 3x4 formula. This was how my layout was born.

Supplies Used: Pinwheel (Apricot Tree, Cart Wheels, Flower Box, Lime Rickey Sprinklers patterned papers, Chipboard Stickers, Embellishment Bundle, Label Sticker), Sweet Shoppe (Letter Stickers) and Autumn Spice (Clear Stamps)

I love working with little 3x4 blocks. I treated mine as if they are separate little canvases. I combined embellishment blocks, journaling blocks and photos to pull my story together. This formula can easily be worked into a 2 page layout and you can simply add or delete photos depending on your needs. This formula has become one of my favorites and I admit this is the 3rd one I have made in the last month.

Cards On Wednesday | Spring

It's Wednesday & that means it's time for another round of Cards On Wednesday!
This week we've been featuring projects with an Easter & Spring theme.
We continue that theme today with some cards created by Christine and myself.

Christine says this about her cards: 
When I think of spring, I think of birds, flowers, and blue skies.  So I thought
it would be fun to make cards that have those themes on them.  I used my
Silhouette to cut out the shapes on my cards.  I also thought it would be fun to
use one Lily Bee collection for each card.  These cards make me want to go
outside and enjoy the warmer weather!

I can't get enough of banners lately. I use them on almost everything I use. Many different
ways of course...but banners are so fun to play with!

Sketch Challenge

Spring is here!  Diana, Wendy, and I have Spring / Easter layouts inspired by this week's sketch.  I kept the sketch simple.  I made it using the app called Skitch, and lately have been doodling quick sketches for layouts on this app to do later.  It gives me a great jump start.

I love how Diana interpreted the sketch with the one large photo and title.  Just beautiful.  
Diana loves the blues, yellows, and greens in the Sweet Shoppe and Pinwheel collection, especially for Spring layouts.
The patterns and colors work so well for a happy page to celebrate the start of Spring.

For my layout, I kept the three photos with the idea of using photos of new things we have have gotten to start the season.

I fussy cut and layered the cartwheel paper for the circles and added more stitched circles.  

I love the black chevron paper and flair from the Sweet Shoppe collection.  It adds texture but my Spring photos also had black in the them, and it helped ground the entire layout.

Wendy had this to say about her layout:

Just looking at these Easter morning photos doesn’t even begin to tell the story of our family’s Easter last year.  The kids look healthy and strong and happy, don’t they?  I guess that’s what the promise of sugary treats will do to a kid!  Unfortunately, each of these kiddos was so so sick all of Easter weekend.  The flu visited our home and didn’t want to leave – it was not a fun weekend (or following week, which just happened to be spring break).  

Obviously, she didn’t want the layout to focus on how everyone was ill…instead she created a fun layout with non-traditional Easter colors.  

The journaling and tale of the never-ending stomach flu will be safely tucked behind the large photo on the bottom of the layout.

Focus On: Easter/Spring Has Sprung

Good morning!

It is Monday once again and that means that we're introducing a new theme for the week! This week we are focusing on Spring and the upcoming Easter holiday. 

While Mr. Groundhog told us we'd have an early Spring I think that some of us are having a few doubts. 

Hopefully the projects that Adrienne and I have to share today will help those of you fighting the Winter blues and inspire all of you to create something new and Spring-y this week. 

We will start off today with a happy layout from brand-new Design Team member, Adrienne Alvis. When this showed up in my inbox in preparation for our post today I was even  more excited that she's now a part of our team. It's incredible, don't you think? 

I really like how Adrienne used both the negative and positive image of her diecuts. What a great way to add a lot of detail and texture and bring focus to her photograph.

Adrienne shares, "Nothing says, 'it's Spring' to me more than mud puddles! I was inspired by this fun photo of my daughter breaking in her new rubber boots to use my Silhouette Cameo to cut out a puddle and some splashes using the Pinwheel Lemonade Stand paper. I layered some Sweet Shoppe Jelly Bean paper underneath and popped out a few splashes using some dimensional adhesive. I used a few of the adorable Spring-themed chipboard stickers from the Pinwheel Collection adn embellished soem Chit Chat stickers on top of them. I used my Cameo to cut out a few extra clouds to emphasize my theme and sewed them directly onto my page. I'm so excited to be sharing my creations with you here at Lily Bee!"

I love how she pays such close attention to little details like layering and stitching. Seeminly simple things that add extra pizzazz to her layout.

For our Spring/Easter feature this week I decided to create a little Easter decor for my home. 

Just like Adrienne did, I put my Silhouette Cameo to work to cut out these cute projects using a mix of the new Lily Bee Pinwheel and Sweet Shoppe collections. 

First I created the Easter Bunny/Carrot garland by cutting out the shapes on my Cameo and taping twine to the back of the shapes. 

The second thing I created were these little treat bags:

These are a quick and simple project that you can make and fill with little candies or a note for a loved one. I cut the bag from white cardstock and embellished with Lily Bee paper and stickers. 

I also decorated a plain white gift bag by using one of the extra bunny die cuts left over from my garland. I added a Pinwheel label sticker and some Persnickety alpha stickers to finish it off.

Pinwheels | How-to on Friday

Happy Friday, Everyone!  Hope you have enjoyed seeing all the projects this week featuring the Pinwheel collection.  Inspired by Spring and the name of the collection, I'm finishing the week with this project using Pinwheels.

I wanted to layer pinwheels, so I after choosing my papers, I cut two squares (3" and 4").

To add a little more fun, I used a border punch and punched around all four sides.  Using a bone folder, I folded point to point, opened it, then folded to the other point to point to form creases.  This helps with the next step.

Cut to about a 1/4 to an 1/8 of an inch from the center along the creases.
Fold the left sides into the center.  This to me is the trickiest part in getting all the points in the middle enough to attach them.
So to help secure them, I stapled in the center.  If you are going to use a brad to finish them off, punch a hole in the center.  Next, create the second pinwheel following these steps, then secure the two pinwheels together with a brad or staple again in the center.

Use can use a wooden stick, dowel, or, what I used, a lollipop stick and wrap some coordinating washi tape around it.

With your finished layered pinwheels, adhere it to the stick.  I used a very strong glue to do this and held it for several seconds for it to bond.

Create your own "straw" to fill the jar by cutting strips of pattern paper.

Fill the jar with the strips and some goodies.

You may not have the Crop-A-Dile II that can punch anywhere.  The pinwheel could probably stand up in the jar without because of the candy and straw it if you didn't have that tool.  
I wrapped more washi tape around the outside of the lid, added a scalloped circle to the top and put the Pinwheel through it.  It needed a tag, so I made a quick one by cutting about an inch and half by three and half piece of pattern paper, rounded the corners with a corner rounder, and then punched a hole at the top.
Very quick, fun, and easy way to put together something cute for my daughter and her best friend for Easter.
My daugther loves for me to make her something.  So she will be excited, and I'm sure, will pick which one she likes best.  Thank you for joining me today.  Join us next week for a Spring and Easter projects.

Hello Sunshine, Nice to See You Again!

Hi! Heather here with a little layout to share with you today.  Since yesterday was the official first day of Spring here, it got me in the mood for warmer sunny days. With it's bright, cheerful color palette, the new Pinwheel collection is perfect for scrapping your Spring and Summer photos, like this one.

I topped it all off with a little fussy cut triangle circle looking sun-like embellishment. After stitching over it, I left the fly away strings to help resemble sun rays.  I topped it off with a circle sticker. 

I'm a girl who loves her layers and these patterns mesh so great together, it was easy to create the dimension I was looking for. I hope this helped you get more in the mood for warmer days!

We're continuing this week's Focus On with the Pinwheel collection and today, Wendy Sue and Lisa have some fresh ideas for cards using this bright and vibrant line!

Wendy Sue has created an adorable card trio with a banner theme, using both banners cut from paper and the new chipboard stickers:

The fussy cut elements, along with the chipboard, tag stickers and baker's twine make these dimensional cards definite "happy mail!"

Designer's Choice Challenge | Lots Of Photos

Hello everyone! Welcome to another edition of Designer's Challenge Tuesday!

While our focus this week is on the FUN new Pinwheel Collection, I want to
challenge you to try something. Recently, both of my kids were home from college
at the same time & what's better while they're here than a fun photo shoot?!

I took so many great photo's of them that I know I'll have plenty to scrap for
a while to come. But on this project - I knew I wanted to use a few of my favorites
from the shoot. So to describe my "Lucky Charms" - I picked two single photo's & four
of the both of them together , printed them in the same color tone (black & white)
in wallet size & used them on this layout:

After printing & trimming - I kept the photo's in a "photo strip" sequence and placed them
in the center of my project. It keeps the focus directly on all six of my photo's.



I used the FUN new Pinwheel line as my background & as my shamrocks.
I also was able to use the brand new embellishments from Pinwheel.
Aren't they FUN! Brads, flair, buttons - oh my. So much fun!

This layout was alot of fun. I adore my lucky charms & I'm so glad I was
able to share with you today.  Now it's YOUR turn to take on this challenge &

Focus On: Pinwheel

Happy Monday everyone! Welcome to a new week at the Lily Bee blog! Along with our new design team, we are also giving a warm welcome to the Pinwheel collection!  

 

Think spring and summer, outdoors, playfulness and joy.  You have Pinwheel.

The uber talented, Cindy is sharing a fantastic layout today that uses a grid design in a fresh and happy way!

I love how Cindy showed off all the patterns and fun elements of Pinwheel.  Cindy mixed stars, arrows and hearts to compliment each of her rounded rectangles.  

 

 

Cindy put the Chit Chat and label stickers to good use, sprinkling them around the page.  I love how she worked the speech bubbles into her design.

I decided to go with the feel of the Pinwheel collection and make a sun to celebrate my own son!

I started with a circluar label sticker, placed a patterned paper center and topped if off with a new button from the chipboard stickers package.  I then took the Picnic Basket paper and cut along several of the small rectangles.  Each one became a part of the sun ray.

 

I also grouped several of the new chipboard stickers together to create the cluster that showcases my title.

St. Patrick's Day Frame

Top o' the morning to y'all!

That's a Texas-Irish greeting for you since I am a little bit Irish and live in Texas, ha ha. 

It's Becky here with you today to share an altered project.

For my project for today I decided to do a little St. Patrick's Day decor in honor of the upcoming holiday. This was a quick and easy craft, perfect for those of us who like to have decorations for each of the holidays but don't have a lot of time to sit down and create. 

I repurposed an old frame that used to hold whimsical art for my youngest daughter's room. 

The shamrocks were cut from various shades of green paper in the Persnickety, Sweet Shoppe and Pinwheel collections. I even threw in a little bit of blue for variety. I used my Silhouette Cameo to cut both the shamrocks and the sentiment and then added some green pearls for extra detail. 

I think the part that took the longest was cutting everything out.

I had previously created Christmas decor that was similar and like the idea of having something for each season/holiday. I just might create something for Spring next!

Cards on Wednesday | Sweet Shoppe

Happy Wednesday LIly Bee friends, Summer here with a couple of cards featuring one of our newest collections: Sweet Shoppe.

I created 2 celebratory cards for you today. I really love how these prints from Sweet Shoppe pair with black so I pulled out one of my long time favorites from my Lily Bee stash to use on my cards. I love how the black adds contrast and pop to the bright sunny patterns.

As you can see I couldn't just stop with just one card. The 3-D floral embellishments I created are super addicting and I simply couldn't just stop myself. To make these little beauties punch several different sized flowers, simply fold and manipulate the petals until you get the desired look. Adhere to your card or layout using your favorite adhesive. I used brads.

Designer's Choice Challenge | Sketch

Welcome to another Designer's Choice Challenge on Tuesday! Today, I'm sharing a sketch that will have you going round and round, because it features one of my favorite design elements -  circles! I just love the dynamic energy this shape can add to a page.

The sketch is based on my Pretty in Pink layout, which uses lots of the new Sweet Shoppe collection from Lily Bee. We'll be highlighting projects using this collection all week, so be sure and check out the blog daily!  I cut several of the patterned papers into various sized circles, mixing in circles of vellum to soften the look.

I also added a few of the newest Lily Bee products - embellishments! The metal flair buttons are my favorite for adding shine and dimension to a page.

Focus on Sweet Shoppe

Good Morning! This week, we wil be sharing some wonderful and sweet projects using one of our newest lines from winter CHA - Sweet Shoppe

Sweet Shoppe is fun everyday collection of a mix of soft and vibrant colors that can also easily be used for multiple, everyday themes! Soft floral patterns, mixed with trendy bokeh, chevron and happy polka dots are featured throughout the collection.

 

I am sharing a page today full of sweetness using this collection.   I was inspired by the title of the collection when using this page, and wanted to use as many of the fun, colorful patterns as possible to showcase the line!

Supplies: Sweet Shoppe (6x6 Tiny Tablet, Chipboard stickers, Embellishment bundle, Candystick Paper, Lollipop Paper, Pink Mint paper, Sat Water Taffy paper), Persnickety (Clear stamps), Stationery (Pear paper), Handmade (ABC stickers), Christmas Cheer (ABC stickers)

 

I used my Cameo to cut the leaves and title for my page, using some of the fun patterned paper found in the collection and then layered bits and pieces of papers from the 6x6 tiny tablet. This is one of my favorite ways to incorporate a lot of patterns, without using up all my larger sheets of paper.

I layered some of the new chipboard stickers from the Sweet Shoppe collection, tucked just under my photo along with some ABC stickers and a lot more paper of course :)

 

 

I love that no matter which collection the ABC stickers are from, they co-ordinate so well and are a perfect little addition to fill in gaps in your page. A quick little banner punched from some scraps of my tiny tablet and some machine stitching add a little bit of whimsy to the page.
