Hey Lily Bee fans! Nicole here today to share a fun way and interactive way to add journaling to your pages.

I often hide my journaling and am always looking for different ways to hide it! So, I created an interactive way on this layout below:

Challenge on Tuesday | Sketch

Hello Lily Bee fans! This month, we partnered up with Becky Fleck from PageMaps!

Today, Christine and I are here to share some fun takes on a sketch, with a sketch provided by Becky Fleck from Pagemaps!

I love the sketch and the idea of the library card. But I wanted to use one photo, so I condensed everything horizontally, instead of having my layout stretch all the way across the 12x12 paper. I love the idea of a
center row of photos, journal card, and other rectangular elements/cutouts.

I love how Christine's title pops, even though she used the smaller letter stickers!

For my page, I used mainly the new Destination collection for my page:

 

Supplies: Destination (6x6 paper pad, Interstate paper, Label stickers, Letter stickers, Chipboard Embellishment stickers, Circle & Tag sticker, Chit Chat Stickers, Embellishment Bundle); Autumn Spice (Index journaling cards, Clear Stamps)

Instead of adding a title in the middle of the photos, I added an additional photo and an embellishment cluster with lots of stickers and badge from the Embellishment bundle.

Cards on Wednesday | The Story

Welcome to the Cards on Wednesday feature on the Lily Bee blog! Today Stacey Michaud and Lisa Dickinson are sharing cards and journals that correlate with our Focus On of the week - The Story!

Stacey is sharing an adorable travel journal and card using the Destination line. Here's what she told us:

"Giving a journal as a gift encourages others to record their memories, thoughts or wishes. I often like to bring a journal when I travel.  New experiences and scenery inspire me to tell my stories.  I created a simple journal along with a card."

"The large cream, chipboard square is a nice place to add a big title.  When making my notebook, I just recovered an existing one I found at the dollar store.  It wouldn't stay closed so I used a brad to help hold it down.  I wrapped the twine around the book, threading it through two holes on the back side to secure it.  Then I placed one loose end under the Road Trip chipboard.  The other end of the twine get wrapped around the brad."

 

Lisa created two cards with the Pinwheel line and described her process:

"It might seem like journaling and stories are reserved for scrapbook pagess. But cards are a great way to get the story rolling! By sending a card, you start a conversation with someone, and open the door for a tale to begin.  I created two simple cards that are meant to get people talking."

Digital Download | Digital Cut File Freebie

Hello! For this week, we are focusing on journaling and prompts in our writing. Diana and I (Cindy) have created two FREE digital downloadable cutting files. These files are easy to use with your Silhouette, Cameo, Cricut die-cut machines.

Diana tends to have an easier time journaling or telling the story when the layout is based on an event. For your next page, think about using an event and all of the fun photos you took at that event as the jumping off point in your story telling.

In Diana's layout, her son was at an event with his baseball team. It lasted for hours and she took so many photos. Diana wanted to make sure that she captured all of the different stations he attended and the professional ball players he encountered.

I absolutely adore Diana's digital cutting file and how she incorporated the circles into her multi-photo layout design. The circles hold a 4", a 3.5" and a 2.5" photo space and would be perfect to hold journaling, too.

We know every photo has a story to tell, but there are times when there aren't many words that evoke the emotion one wants to write down on paper. My approach to the creative journaling challenge was create a layout using short sentences and phrases that tell my story through a non-event photo.

In doing so, I used a colorful mix of letter stickers to emphasize my story throughout my page. The words are straight forward and to the point, completely inspired by my daughters love of giving kisses.

Using the letter stickers to create your journaling is definitely a fun way to enhance your page design. They make great embellishment add-ons to any layout design.

Today Patricia & I are here to share some creative journaling with you.
how to "tell the story" in a unique, different, fun (& sometimes out of the box) way!

Just look how creative her journaling is! I LOVE how she told her story in so many differentways, using so many different means to journal!
The stamps, the stickers, the handwritten journaling...wow!

Here's what Patricia says about her project:
I love this photo, but I love the story behind it even more.  We were not sure if
our daughter would do her first performance or not.  As I wrote this, I realized
again just how proud I am of her and what a big deal this was for her.  I
combined my handwriting, stamping, the chit chat stickers, letter stickers, and
circle and tag stickers for my journaling.  Then after I added the stitching, I
went in and filled in any other empty spots with a button, dots, and more chit
chat stickers. 


I decided to use my Silhouette Cameo to cut my journaling. I replaced some of the words
that were cut with the Lily Bee letter stickers, to give it a tiny bit different touch.
This quote from Winnie The Pooh is perfect journaling/titling for our sweet puppy,
Lilly Pulitzer. She's sweet, so tiny & she stole all our hearts!

Summer Fun Letterblock Tray

Good Friday morning, Lily Bee fans!  Christine here to show you a fun summer project using awesome Lily Bee products and a letterblock tray.  I had purchased a 12x10 7 Gypsies letterblock tray a couple of years ago, with the intention of making a Christmas gift for a friend.  That did not happen, but I thought it would make a wonderful wall decoration for the summer.  Today is Summer Solstice and the official beginning of summer!

I measured each block within the tray and cut some patterned paper to fit inside the blocks.  Then I planned out what went inside each block.  

I used some of the chipboard stickers from the Sweet Shoppe Collection, as well as some twine from the embellishment bundle, and some Chit Chat stickers.

I used my Silhouette digital cutter to cut out many different summer-related quotes and objects.  Summer is all about bicycling, fun in the sun, ice cream, waves, and flip flops.  This makes me want to go on vacation right now!

I used foam adhesive to adhere some of these cutouts to make them pop up and stand out more inside the tray.

Making this summer-themed letterblock tray was so much fun!  I want to swap it out each season with different themed cutouts and keep it hanging on the wall in our entryway.

Cards on Wednesday | Summer Solstice

Good Morning Lily Bee friends Summer here with a little seasonal inspiration to get your creative juices flowing. I am being joined today by the super talented Wendy Sue Anderson. We each let our favorite Lily Bee products shine on these wonderfully creative seasonal cards.

Nothing says summer like a bowl full of fresh strawberries and Wendy couldn't resist using this as her inspiration for today's cards.

Sketches Revisited: Summer Solstice

Hello everyone! Leslie and I are here to share more inspiration using the fabulous sketches this month with our "Summer Solstice" theme for this week. We focused on favorite summer activities.

Leslie used the PageMaps sketch for June for her layout.

Leslie says, "By changing up a few things on the sketch, like clustering my title and embellishments, along with the position change of my photograph really makes the layout bring on a life of its own."

We have many favorite summer activities but boating always signals the start of the summer fun and inner tubing is my daughter's favorite activity at the lake so I decided to use a photo from our first lake trip this summer for my layout. I used the Lily Bee card sketch for my layout.

The repeating squares made it easy to put together this layout. For one of the squares I used my Silhouette to cut out a repeating circle pattern and backed it with colorful patterned paper. I carried the circle theme through the entire layout with the pinwheel and sticker embellishments.

Focus On: Summer Solstice

Happy Monday, everyone!  Cindy and I are here to start your week off right with lots of inspiration based on this week's theme, "Summer Solstice".  We decided to focus on our favorite summer activities and traditions. 

 

First up is Cindy with her amazing layout documenting her family's favorite summer tradition...

 

Cindy says, "Spending time at the beach, running through the sprinkler in the backyard, and just plain grilling are just a few of my favorite summertime memories.  Though, celebrating the Fourth of July with my family is probably the most favorite and setting off fireworks is probably been our family tradition since the beginning.  We spend several hours outside counting down the clock and awaiting the sunset so we can begin our fun.  I get a kick out of my kids excitement as they watch the fireworks explode.  Their reaction is comical, nervous, and full of joy.  Sadness always weighs in once all the fireworks are done, but then we get to sit on our front porch and watch the professionals shoot off fireworks into the sky in our neighborhood.  A perfect ending to a wonderful summer day celebrating our freedom."

My family and I have so many favorite summertime activities that it was hard for me to choose just one, so I decided to include multiple photos of different summer activities that we enjoy...

I knew that I wanted a bold background, so I decided to use my Silhouette and cut out a large sunburst. I backed each ray with different pieces of patterned paper from the Pinwheel and Sweet Shoppe Collections.  I included photos of us enjoying random summer activities such as playing on the beach, hanging out with friends at the park, and just being outside on a warm, sunny day.

Fatherhood | Project Life Friday

Hello, Lily Bee fans!!  Patricia here with you today to finish our week of celebration Dad's and Fatherhood with Project Life.

My approach with Project Life is to do a summary of the week.  I still wanted to have a summary of what happened during the week, but this assignment pushed me to focus on getting photos that captured the relationship between my daughter and her Dad.  I have never approached Project Life this way.  It was a nice change and felt like it made it even more personal.

This week was also Memorial Day, so the color scheme really started there.  I used my Silhouette to cut files and the sketch pens to write out some journaling.  

I used a lot of primary colors for this spread with touches of brown, grey, and black...perfect for Memorial Day, summer, and especially for celebrating Dad.  

I pulled out the Autumn Spice stamps too for the "Memories," arrows, and "happy," and the "Hi There."  Love how just that little bit of stamping can add so much.

The label, letter, chit chat, and circle and tabs stickers really added nice touches to this week's spread and made it even more personal.

Fatherhood - Cards and Gifts

Hello! Diana Fisher here with you today to share cards and gifts made with Dad in mind. This week we are thinking about fathers, and with Father's Day right around the corner, what better time to make cards to celebrate Dad.

Let's start off with what Diane Payne made for today. She thought it would be fun to create a card using adjectives that describe Dad. Diane punched tabs from several different patterns of paper in the Destination 6x6 Tiny Tablet and used the Letter Stickers to add the words to the tags.

For her second card, Diane used the world flair from the Destination Embellishment Bundle and was inspired by the saying for this card. The map paper tied in with the theme perfectly. Using some punches, she added hearts for the finishing touch.

Below is the gift set I made with a card and treat bag. I also used the Destination Collection.

I just love how the card and treat bag turned out! The dark woodgrain papers in the Destination Collection scream "manly" to me — they remind me of man cave decor.

June Card Sketch Challenge

Good morning and welcome to the Lily Bee blog today as we continue our feature on the Dads in our lives. Today we will share with you some cards inspired by our June sketch and hope that you will feel inspired to play along with the challenge. I really like sketches because they take the guesswork out of scrapping and make completing a project so much easier!

Are you ready to see the sketch for this month?

It is a simple sketch which leaves lots of room for interpretation and for you to add your own creative touches. You can add as much or as little detail as you want as you adapt this sketch to your cards. The squares in the sketch can be any shape you would like to use. Feel free to switch things up!

The very-talented Adrienne Alvis is here with me today to share a couple of cards inspired by the June sketch. Here is her first card: 

Supplies: Destination (6x6 Tiny Tablet, Label Stickers, Embellishment Bundle, Letter Stickers, Chipboard Stickers), Pinwheel (6x6 Tiny Tablet) 

Adrienne shares, "I kept a cluster of embellishments in the middle of the card like the sketch, but used circle elements instead of squares.  I also added an extra cluster at the top left to draw the eye across the card and to help balance out the circular elements."

Adrienne's second card is just as fantastic as the first. I really like her color combination for this card perfect for any father:

About this month's card sketch Adrienne says, "I really liked Becky's sketch and thought it was perfect for a more "masculine" themed card.  I was instantly inspired by the center square and used a cut-out photo frame from the Port patterned paper.  I added my embellishments on top of the photo frame and kept the same lines as the sketch for the sentiments."

Adrienne and I were very much on the same wavelength in our product selection for these Father's Day cards! The Destination collection is great for not only travel/vacation projects but any masculine/everyday project as well. 

Supplies: Destination (6x6 Tiny Tablet, Label Stickers, Circle & Tag Stickers, Embellishment Bundle, Letter Stickers). 

I also chose to use circles in place of the squares in the sketch. I simply punched circles of a mix of sizes and layered them, then added a couple of tag stickers to finish it off. The new Alphabet Stickers are just the right size to fit on the label stickers. 

For my second card I was inspired by the globe shape from the Destination collection chipboard. From that I got the theme for my card, the "You are our world" sentiment. The shapes on this card aren't in the same placement/sizing as the sketch, but, as I said, feel free to change things to fit what you are inspired to create based on sketches you use.

The new chipboard and other embellishments are such a fun addition to the already-great line from Lily Bee. Here I used some chipboard and just a bit of twine to add texture to the card.

Focus On Monday | Fatherhood

Good Monday morning!  Welcome to another week full of inspiration here on the Lily Bee blog!  This week we'll be focusing on all things "Fatherhood."  Our team has a great line-up for you - lots of fun layouts, cards, and more! 

Today I wanted to share this layout I created featuring my husband.  He is the best dad to our four kiddos - always ready to "go, go, go, see, do!"  He is lots of fun and he's always game for whatever the kids want to try out.  This layout features one of those days - it was so cold outside, but the boys wanted to set up the slip & slide.  It was supposed to be summer, but the temperatures just weren't there yet.  The cold didn't deter Brad though - he put on his swim suit and got soaked with the boys.  He didn't care that he was freezing.  He was making his boys laugh and smile, and that's all that mattered to him!

Stacy also has a great layout to share!  Here's what she has to say:  I wanted to convey how joyous my kids feel when they are with their dad.  There is a tight bond between these three as you can tell from their smiles.  I often forget to take photos with Steve or me in them so when we are out on a day trip or vacation, I make it a point to catch at least one.  I used the large, circular chipboard piece to ground the cluster and draw the eye right next to the photo.  I cut out small circles from the Pink Mist paper and added it as confetti.  I also cut the banner from the Jean Bean paper and added the twine and button to the top.
