Isn't she creative? I love what she did! She's one talented girl!

I cut the file in a couple of different sizes and 2 different We Are Family patterned papers. I really like how the red and blue look against this woodgrain background. I think it  makes my small black and white photo POP!



I layered my house and added a metallic badge as my door. Finished it off using wood veneer leaves from the Urban Autumn Collection

Project Submissions:

Please share your best work with us that you feel showcases your style. Attach 4 photos, no larger than 600x600. Make sure to include at least 2 layouts (1 may be Project Life type), 1 card and 1 other project of your choice.

Although we would love to see projects using Lily Bee Design, it is not required. Projects do not need to be newly created for this call.

The deadline for applications is January 19, 2014 at 11:59 p.m. CT. Previous design team experience is not required. International applications are welcome! The individuals chosen to join the team will be notified via email and the new team will be announced here on our blog.

Design team members will serve for 6 months beginning February 2014 and will be required to submit 2 - 3 monthly assignments per month and promote each of their projects on at least 2 social media outlets per month, as well as online galleries. You will also be required to create at least 1 altered item and 1 tutorial during your 6 month term. An optional project may arise on occasion, as we sometimes partner with other brands.

Digital Download | Gift Tags

Hello, Diane here! I've been busy preparing for the holidays and came up with a few gift tags that you can whip up in a snap for your last minute gift wrapping. Two are specific to the holidays and the other two can be used year round! All the files work wonderfully with the We R Family collection and We R Family digital files. You can find the link to the free digital files at the end of this post.

I created the saying for the tag with the wood veneer people in mind. You could also use the We R Family people cut file instead of wood veneers, both are equally cute!

The green wood grain paper in the Urban Autumn collection makes an adorable Christmas Tree. I embellished the tree with We R Family Sweet Spot Enamel Stickers and a Wood Veneer heart.

Not only is this tag great for the holidays but it would also work well for a hostess gift or welcome to the neighborhood gift. The wood veneer house can easily be substituted for the house cutting file.

This last tag is perfect for attaching to those special handmade gifts for your loved ones. The wood veneer heart can be substituted with the We R Family heart cutting file, if desired.

Challenge Winners

This blog post is long overdue but I'm going with the better late than never expression.  There's been a lot going on here at Lily Bee Design and we love the support from our fans. We especially enjoy seeing how you use our products to create such wonderful layouts, cards and special projects.

I just adore this layout Amber Rasmuss made, focusing on her cute dog. I really like how she incorporated the stitching into the design. The vellum clouds are a great touch.

Missy Cutchen Whidden combined Pinwheel and Sweet Shoppe, adding in pops of color and different mediums to create this colorful layout, which she shared with us on Facebook.

Tag, You're It - Final Day!

hi everyone! Leslie here with our final installment of Tag, You're it!
We hope you're enjoying this weekof our challenges.

We've been using this sketch all week for our challenge & each day we've been
given a new bit to add to our challenge.  I had fun with it!

In fact, Nicole challenged me to add a cool technique with you.

I decided to make my challenge a little easy - take the
sketch and change it up a bit.

 

So I took the angled sections from the sketch and made them like banners.
Turned then up and down, side by side, adding the daily deck cards on top
with wooden veneer arrows pointing to my son in the photo.

finally - I decided to add a few punched circles scattered on the bottom,
below my wooden veneer hearts. I then took a ruler and drew my
journaling lines and finished my layout by journaling about my photo.

Final addition is the metal "love" badge.

All in all, this has been a truly fun week of challenges & we hope you
have fun challenging yourself in your creations this week!

Cards on Wednesday | Tag Your it!

This week we are changing things up a bit on the blog - we all started off this week's projects with the same sketch and each day we are challenged with a new twist!

Here is the sketch that we are using for this week:

Since today is Wednesday - it's our card day ! I decided to whip up a few cards, using the sketch in 2 different ways - PLUS, I was challenged by Heather to use something HARD & something SOFT on my cards!

For my first card, I used the base patterns on the sketch and copied it onto my card. I used the diagnal shape and went from there:

 

 Supplies: We R Family (Tiny Tablet, Washi Tape); Urban Autumn (Daily Deck, Metal Badges); Destination (Letter Stickers)

I used a Metal Badge from the new Urban Autumn collection as my hard item and then some metallic thread as my soft item, circling over top the diecut snowflake: 

 

I used the gold dot washi tape (LOVE IT) over and over in rows to create a patterned paper type design on the card, and then covered the edges with pieces of patterned paper.

 

 For my next card, I kept it quite simple, cutting some simple pennant shapes from patterned paper and adding a stamped sentiment and some punched snowflakes.

 

 Supplies: We R Family (Tiny Tablet); Pinwheel (Embellishment Bundle); Urban Autumn (Washi Tape, Daily Deck); Christmas Cheer Chowder (Clear Stamps)

 For my hard item, I used some staples and my soft item this time was some baker's twine from the Pinwheel embellishment bundle!

Tag, You're It Day 2

Hi, Heather here. We're having a ton of fun this week with our game of tag. I was tagged by Stacey yesterday to create a layout based on this week's sketch, shown below, but with an added twist.  She challenged me to add die cuts to my layout so I created a few SVG files for Lily Bee's new We R Family collection. You can download them for free at the end of this post.

In case, you missed it, here's the sketch that's inspiring us this week.

Here's what I created:

I had this layout in mind utilizing the Daily Deck cards when I created this sketch. That said, you could easily add more photos to the page.

I just love the wood veneer people. I knew I wanted to highlight them so I created an offset image of them and then cut them out as a family on one of the Daily Deck cards. I just resized them to fit my card and cut them out.

To create my title, I punched individual letters out of the Game Night paper. I used a small circle punch, which was the perfect size.

I also cut hearts out of the bottom section of the striped paper before adhering it to the background paper. I backed the negative portion with coordinating paper and then saved the cuts to use as embellishments over one of the Daily Deck cards.

Okay, so now it's time to reveal who I've tagged.  Nicole, you're it!  I've challenged her to create a card based on this sketch while also incorporating both hard and soft elements. Come back tomorrow to see her fabulous creations.

Focus on Monday: Tag, You're It!

We have something super fun going on this week on the blog and we are hoping you will join along!  Remember playing tag when you were a kid?  It was great fun giggling with your friends and taking turns in the game.  We are playing a scrapbooking version starting today!  Each of us will use the same sketch as a jumping off point, but everyday there will be a twist.

The starting point is this great sketch designed by Heather Leopard.  I am first to put the sketch to good use! 

 

Here is my interpretation!  I stayed fairly true to the sketch, using one larger photo and three of the Daily Deck cards along the top.

 

 

I added in some unique touches like using the doilies as snowflakes.  I incorporated wood veneer pieces all around the page.  The sketch really motivated me to try a design I don't typically create!

 

 

Heather's small circles on the sketch inspired me to add in a metal badge near the corner of my photo.

Alter It Friday | Holiday Gift

Hello Lily Bee friends!  It's Wendy Sue here today, sharing a little gift project!  One of my favorite holiday traditions is a "my favorite things" gift exchange. 

 

It's a party where everyone brings their favorite small items to share with everyone else in the group.  Not only is it a fun way to discover new fun items, it's a great excuse for an evening out with friends.  This year I embellished my gift box with a wooden star ornament.

To make my ornament fun and colorful, I cut apart some of my Daily Deck cards from the We R Family collection to cover each surface of the star.

I love the eclectic look and the fun, non-traditional colors.  I'm excited to fill the box with some of my favorite things to share with my friends!

Throwback Thursday | Handmade Gifts

Good Morning Lily Bee friends I hope you are enjoying our week of gifts made from the heart. In the spirit of Throwback Thursday I made a covered composition notebook. I used to make these all the time and when I was racking my brain for gift ideas my first thought was "hey I haven't altered a composition notebook in years." I loved the simple clean feeling to everyone's projects this week so I followed their lead when I created this project.

These covered notebooks make wonderful gifts. They can be customized to fit any theme. I made this notebook for my daughter who loves to draw and write little stories. I am sure in no time this book will be willed with all my daughter's favorite happy little things.

Cards On Wednesday: Throw a Cookie In It

It is the season of giving so today I am sharing a gift idea that involves cards, the Daily Deck cards to be exact.  I decided to create a homemade gift that comes from the heart, and my kitchen.  I made a baking set complete with wooden utensils, a recipe and a sample.

 

To make the set, I started with the recipe and cookie bag.  I simply placed a sample into the bag and added some decorations to the outside.  I wrapped it with burlap and used a doilie to give some texture.  Then I cut the circle heart tag from one of the Daily Deck cards.  

 

I wrote the recipe on another Daily Deck card and stapled it of the back of the bag.

 

 

I moved onto the utensils, customizing the wooden handles with washi tape from both the We R Family and Urban Autumn collections.  These were super easy to make and they look fantastic.  Add some Mod Podge over the top to make them more durable.  

 

 

I finished off the set with some ribbon from my craft room and the perfect saying, Daily Dish, cut from another Daily Deck card.  I glued a wood veneer heart to give the banner one final touch!

 

 

Homemade gifts are fun to create, especially when using Lily Bee products!

Challenge Tuesday | Gift Giving

Hello! Diana Fisher here with you today to challenge you to make (rather than buy) a gift box this holiday season. If you don't have a Cameo or Cricut to cut a digital file, there are also plenty of templates online where you can trace or measure out the dimensions for a gift box.

Here is my gift box to get you motivated! I used the We R Family collection .

For a second challenge, I dare you to use a collection that is not meant for the holidays. These gorgeous fall colors and patterns work so well for a subtle holiday gift.

Throwback Thursday | 2 Page Layouts

Hi Lily Bee fans! Welcome to another Throwback Thursday. Our theme this week is 2 page layouts. For my layout I used a favorite family photo from 16 years ago. I wanted the photo to be the star of the layout so I enlarged it to 8 1/2 x 11 to take up the entire space of one side of the 2 pager.

The side of the layout without a photo is simply embellished with a metal badge and Sweet Spot Enamel Stickers. 

I added a couple embellishment clusters in two corners of the photo.

I hope this week inspires you to try a 2 page layout. If it seems a little intimidating to you, try filling one side with your photo and the other side for your title and journaling.

Two Pager on Wednesday

All this week, we are sharing two page layouts!  Double pages allow you to share mulitple photos while still giving the design room to breathe.  If you are slightly nervous about creating a double page layout, try working with 8.5 X 11" pages.  I find that combining two pages that size gives you enough space without it becoming overwhelming.

I scrapped a two page layout to share some great shots of my daughter playing in the leaves.

I used the Urban Autumn collection to scrap this page.  I love the purple in this line.  I find that when creating double page layouts, I like to use a sequence of pictures.  I line them up from left to right in the order they occurred.  I like to place elements at the start of the series to draw the eye.

I used the color saturated Daily Deck card layered with a wood veneer.  Since I used a the block of black paper, I wanted to add some movement and curves to the page.  I hand cut some leaves from the papers and made a bunch along the right side.

I also cut the hexagons from a Daily Deck card since it adds another geometric shape.  I layered with wood veneer, a metal badge and sticker.  With such fun goodies, double pagers are fun to create!

Challenge on Tuesday | 2 page layouts

Good morning Lily Bee fans!!! Today is the first Tuesday of the month, which means it's time for a new monthly sketch!

This week, the Design Team will be sharing some 2 page layouts and keeping that theme in mind, this month's sketch is a 2 pager!

Here is the sketch:

 

Truth be told, it has been YEARS since I have sat down to scrapbook a 2 page layout. I was suprised it didn't take too much time to get back into the swing of it and I do like the result!

Here is my take on this month's sketch:

Supplies: We Are Family (6x6 Tiny Tablet, Mother, Daughter, Family Tree, Sibling Rivalry, Game Night, Daily Deck cards, Metal Badges, Washi Tape, Wood Veneers); Urban Autumn (Wood Veneers); Pinwheel (Letter Stickers)

Once I got over my initial fear - I realized - 2 pagers are a great way to incorporate a lot of photos and I tried to do just that, using 5 photos and a daily deck card, instead of a photo.  It also gives you a lot of space, perfect for larger titles, like this one I cut from my Silhouette Cameo out of some paper from the We Are Family collection.

I dove into the Tiny Tablet and punched a lot of circles and stitched around them, instead of using a sheet of patterned paper.
