Love Letters Week | Cards

Nicole here today to share a few easy love letter inspired cards for Love Letters week here on the Lily Bee blog!

I stuck with the We R Family Collection to create this easy cards using not much more than a few daily deck cards and some simple embellishments!

Supplies: We R Family (Tiny Tablet, Sweet Spot Stickers, Washi Tape, Daily Deck cards); Persnickety (clear stamps); Urban Autumn (Wood Veneers); Sweet Shoppe (Letter stickers)

I added in some small letters from the Sweet Shoppe collection for my sentiment.

 

Next, I added in some stamping from the Persnickety line! I love those little Lily Bee shaped hearts.

My last card is super simple and came together quickly with the addition of a few wood veneers:

I used a small circle punch and punched the letters out of the We R Family Tiny Tablet to make the sentiment for this card.

Designer's Choice | Love Letters Week

Hello! Diana Fisher here with you today as we share a week of love on the Lily Bee blog. 

I used the We R Family collection to make this fun card and candy gift box to celebrate Valentine's Day.

 

To make my card, I used the leftover hearts from what was cut for the gift box. These hearts were the inside of the heart that is the lid. I had to trim them just a little bit to get them to stack in a neat pattern, but overall this was a great way to use what was left over from the cut on my Silhouette Cameo.

The "LOVE THIS" 3x4 card in the background is one of the Daily Deck cards. I love using these cards on greeting cards. The sentiments are always so sweet.

 

I have to admit that by the time I am typing up this post, I have already eaten half of the candy that was in the box. I guess I gifted it to myself! 

This box was cut using a file from Lori Whitlock that I found in the Silhouette Online Store. For some reason, when I resized the box to make it bigger I ended up with the lid inside the box instead of outside. I ended up liking it better that way — a nice surprise!

Cool Boys

I love the We R Family collection for many reasons!  It is perfect for all members of the family, even pages about the men in our lives.  I decided to use the collection to document the bond between my son and his cousions.  

I put the focus on the navy, green and red in the collection.  I also mixed in some Urban Autumn based on the strong browns and warmer shades.  The result is a page that is all boy.

To create this page, I mixed a couple of the Daily Deck cards next to my photo.  I cut the boy's icon from a third card.  Since I was using so many rectangles, I decided to mix in the circular shape as well as some triangles.  I also staggered the height of the shapes, creating a more uneven line.  I incorporated some Chit Chat Stickers from older collections.

I made this cool arrow by cutting the rows of triangles from the Family Heirlon paper.  I then cut along the triangle side and put two together to make this oversized arrow.  I finished it off with a wood veneer shape.

Favorite Things Week | Daily Deck

Good morning Lily Bee fans! Are you enjoying our DT sharing some of their Lily Bee faves with you??

Urban Autumn

There are a couple reasons I love these cards. Really, they can be used on almost every project. Cards, Layouts, PL spreads and more. I love that they are double sided, and I love that there is a good variety of pattern and also some great words/quotes on them!

I decided to take advantage of these cards making this layout:

I just love using both the front and back of the cards instead of patterned paper, like I did on the bottom part of my page. Even better is that I was able to add in a little classic Lily Bee products by using some ABC stickers to decorate my page, along with a cut out piece of labels from one of the Urban Autumn Daily Deck cards.

There are lots of great phrases/words on the cards and I clipped some out to decorate the Daily Deck cards that are on the bottom of the page. I was able to add in some letter stickers over a cropped pennant from the back side of a Daily Deck card to complete my title.

Favorite Things Week | Wood Veneers

This week the creative team is sharing their favorite pieces from the Lily Bee collections. I don't really have a new challenge for you today — it's more like a reminder to break out those wood veneers and use them in an interesting way.

Here are some of my favorites from when I used wood veneers.

I love the clustering of the wood veneers and also the mix of both the plain and the patterned wood. Here I used both the We R Family (hearts) and the Urban Autumn (leaves) in the same cluster. They work so well together!

For this card, I used the leaves as the main image on the front of the card. They climb up the edge and layer with the enamel dots. Again, here I mixed both the pattern and plain leaves.

On this card, I used the wood veneer as the sentiment. A simple "together" off to the side of the paper and anchored by the flair and enamel cluster above it.

Favorite Things Week

Happy Monday everyone!  Today, we are kicking off a week of favorites.  As we excitedly wait for the new releases to arrive, the Lily Bee Creative Team will share our favorite products from the past collections.  There is so much to love about all the goodies!   We are sure you feel the same so this week also involves a giveaway!

One of my favorite embellishments from the previous releases are the metal badges.  I love how these little guys add pattern, dimension and shine to any page.

I like to use the metal badges close to my photo since it really brings the eye in.  Tying a twine string around the badge gives everything a finished feeling!  

I chose this particular badge because the ampersand really reinforces the idea of family fun.  I will admit that this page showcases another one of my favorite products...woodgrain paper!  I adore the richness and warmth.

Cards On Wednesday | Words of Encouragement

For this weeks theme of goals and resolutions I felt a card of encouragement and congratulations were in order.

What better way to show someone you support them by offering words of encouragement as they embark on the tasks at hand and nothing is better than knowing you have people behind you, supporting you every step of the way.

For the Good Luck card I used the We R Family Collection with a circle/heart theme for my design.

Supplies: We R Family (6x6 Tiny Tablet, Metal Badges, Washi Tap, Sweet Spot Enamel Stickers, Clear Stamps), Pinwheel (Letter Stickers).

When they reach their goal, tell them they did a great job! For my congratulatory card I used the Urban Autumn collection. 

 

For the greeting I cut the word "Fab" from one of the 3x4 Daily Deck cards. I simply added the word "so" to complete the greeting using letter stickers from the Destination collection. I used the same design as the first card but replaced the circles with stars.

Challenge Tuesday | Sketch and OLW

One of the ideas for projects for January here at Lily Bee is goals and resolutions. I saw the perfect opportunity to document my One Little Word (OLW) for 2014.

 

 

I used the We R Family and Urban Autumn collections from Lily Bee to make my layout. I love the wood veeners, sweet spot enamel stickers and  daily deck cards in each collection, so I wanted to make sure those had a place on my layout.

 

 

I didn't take an up-close picture of my journaling, but I will share with you why I chose "LIGHT." It has many meanings that are important for my personal success in 2014: 

• To be the "light" for others who are in need of leadership.

• To "lighten" my commitments and share responsibilities with others where I can.

• To be "light hearted" and carefree when I can be. Some things should just be fun and not stressful.

Throwback Thursday

Happy New Year everyone!  As we start 2014, I am jumping into the past by pulling out an older photo and some retro Lily Bee items.  

Do you remember those fabulous sheets of large rub-ons that used to be in the older collections?  I put one to use on my most recent layout.

I used this photo of my children from a few years ago.  They have made the shift from "babies" to "kids".  

I pieced together some words and letters from the rub-ons to create my title, Time of Change.  I then layered some new and some older embellishments like the Daily Deck Card and the chipboard flag.

To add some color to my very neural page, I cut a sheet of the We R Family paper called Family Heirloom.  I cut along the strips that are already in the paper.  I then cut each strip along the diagonal side of the triangle.  I staggered the length of each one to frame the page.

You Are My Happy

Isn't she creative? I love what she did! She's one talented girl!

I cut the file in a couple of different sizes and 2 different We Are Family patterned papers. I really like how the red and blue look against this woodgrain background. I think it  makes my small black and white photo POP!



I layered my house and added a metallic badge as my door. Finished it off using wood veneer leaves from the Urban Autumn Collection

Cards on Wednesday | Tag Your it!

This week we are changing things up a bit on the blog - we all started off this week's projects with the same sketch and each day we are challenged with a new twist!

Here is the sketch that we are using for this week:

Since today is Wednesday - it's our card day ! I decided to whip up a few cards, using the sketch in 2 different ways - PLUS, I was challenged by Heather to use something HARD & something SOFT on my cards!

For my first card, I used the base patterns on the sketch and copied it onto my card. I used the diagnal shape and went from there:

I used a Metal Badge from the new Urban Autumn collection as my hard item and then some metallic thread as my soft item, circling over top the diecut snowflake: 

 

I used the gold dot washi tape (LOVE IT) over and over in rows to create a patterned paper type design on the card, and then covered the edges with pieces of patterned paper.

 

 For my next card, I kept it quite simple, cutting some simple pennant shapes from patterned paper and adding a stamped sentiment and some punched snowflakes.

 

 Supplies: We R Family (Tiny Tablet); Pinwheel (Embellishment Bundle); Urban Autumn (Washi Tape, Daily Deck); Christmas Cheer Chowder (Clear Stamps)

 For my hard item, I used some staples and my soft item this time was some baker's twine from the Pinwheel embellishment bundle!

Tag, You're It Day 2

Hi, Heather here. We're having a ton of fun this week with our game of tag. I was tagged by Stacey yesterday to create a layout based on this week's sketch, shown below, but with an added twist.  She challenged me to add die cuts to my layout so I created a few SVG files for Lily Bee's new We R Family collection. You can download them for free at the end of this post.

I had this layout in mind utilizing the Daily Deck cards when I created this sketch. That said, you could easily add more photos to the page.

I just love the wood veneer people. I knew I wanted to highlight them so I created an offset image of them and then cut them out as a family on one of the Daily Deck cards. I just resized them to fit my card and cut them out.

To create my title, I punched individual letters out of the Game Night paper. I used a small circle punch, which was the perfect size.

I also cut hearts out of the bottom section of the striped paper before adhering it to the background paper. I backed the negative portion with coordinating paper and then saved the cuts to use as embellishments over one of the Daily Deck cards.

Alter It Friday | Holiday Gift

Hello Lily Bee friends!  It's Wendy Sue here today, sharing a little gift project!  One of my favorite holiday traditions is a "my favorite things" gift exchange. 

 

It's a party where everyone brings their favorite small items to share with everyone else in the group.  Not only is it a fun way to discover new fun items, it's a great excuse for an evening out with friends.  This year I embellished my gift box with a wooden star ornament.

To make my ornament fun and colorful, I cut apart some of my Daily Deck cards from the We R Family collection to cover each surface of the star.

I love the eclectic look and the fun, non-traditional colors.  I'm excited to fill the box with some of my favorite things to share with my friends!

Cards On Wednesday: Throw a Cookie In It

It is the season of giving so today I am sharing a gift idea that involves cards, the Daily Deck cards to be exact.  I decided to create a homemade gift that comes from the heart, and my kitchen.  I made a baking set complete with wooden utensils, a recipe and a sample.

 

To make the set, I started with the recipe and cookie bag.  I simply placed a sample into the bag and added some decorations to the outside.  I wrapped it with burlap and used a doilie to give some texture.  Then I cut the circle heart tag from one of the Daily Deck cards.  

 

I wrote the recipe on another Daily Deck card and stapled it of the back of the bag.

 

 

I moved onto the utensils, customizing the wooden handles with washi tape from both the We R Family and Urban Autumn collections.  These were super easy to make and they look fantastic.  Add some Mod Podge over the top to make them more durable.  

 

 

I finished off the set with some ribbon from my craft room and the perfect saying, Daily Dish, cut from another Daily Deck card.  I glued a wood veneer heart to give the banner one final touch!

 

 

Homemade gifts are fun to create, especially when using Lily Bee products!

Two Pager on Wednesday

All this week, we are sharing two page layouts!  Double pages allow you to share mulitple photos while still giving the design room to breathe.  If you are slightly nervous about creating a double page layout, try working with 8.5 X 11" pages.  I find that combining two pages that size gives you enough space without it becoming overwhelming.

I scrapped a two page layout to share some great shots of my daughter playing in the leaves.

I used the Urban Autumn collection to scrap this page.  I love the purple in this line.  I find that when creating double page layouts, I like to use a sequence of pictures.  I line them up from left to right in the order they occurred.  I like to place elements at the start of the series to draw the eye.

I used the color saturated Daily Deck card layered with a wood veneer.  Since I used a the block of black paper, I wanted to add some movement and curves to the page.  I hand cut some leaves from the papers and made a bunch along the right side.

I also cut the hexagons from a Daily Deck card since it adds another geometric shape.  I layered with wood veneer, a metal badge and sticker.  With such fun goodies, double pagers are fun to create!
