Focus on Monday: Tag, You're It!

We have something super fun going on this week on the blog and we are hoping you will join along!  Remember playing tag when you were a kid?  It was great fun giggling with your friends and taking turns in the game.  We are playing a scrapbooking version starting today!  Each of us will use the same sketch as a jumping off point, but everyday there will be a twist.

The starting point is this great sketch designed by Heather Leopard.  I am first to put the sketch to good use! 

 

Here is my interpretation!  I stayed fairly true to the sketch, using one larger photo and three of the Daily Deck cards along the top.

 

 

I added in some unique touches like using the doilies as snowflakes.  I incorporated wood veneer pieces all around the page.  The sketch really motivated me to try a design I don't typically create!

 

 

Heather's small circles on the sketch inspired me to add in a metal badge near the corner of my photo.

Alter It Friday | Holiday Gift

Hello Lily Bee friends!  It's Wendy Sue here today, sharing a little gift project!  One of my favorite holiday traditions is a "my favorite things" gift exchange. 

 

It's a party where everyone brings their favorite small items to share with everyone else in the group.  Not only is it a fun way to discover new fun items, it's a great excuse for an evening out with friends.  This year I embellished my gift box with a wooden star ornament.

To make my ornament fun and colorful, I cut apart some of my Daily Deck cards from the We R Family collection to cover each surface of the star.

I love the eclectic look and the fun, non-traditional colors.  I'm excited to fill the box with some of my favorite things to share with my friends!

Throwback Thursday | Handmade Gifts

Good Morning Lily Bee friends I hope you are enjoying our week of gifts made from the heart. In the spirit of Throwback Thursday I made a covered composition notebook. I used to make these all the time and when I was racking my brain for gift ideas my first thought was "hey I haven't altered a composition notebook in years." I loved the simple clean feeling to everyone's projects this week so I followed their lead when I created this project.

These covered notebooks make wonderful gifts. They can be customized to fit any theme. I made this notebook for my daughter who loves to draw and write little stories. I am sure in no time this book will be willed with all my daughter's favorite happy little things.

Cards On Wednesday: Throw a Cookie In It

It is the season of giving so today I am sharing a gift idea that involves cards, the Daily Deck cards to be exact.  I decided to create a homemade gift that comes from the heart, and my kitchen.  I made a baking set complete with wooden utensils, a recipe and a sample.

 

To make the set, I started with the recipe and cookie bag.  I simply placed a sample into the bag and added some decorations to the outside.  I wrapped it with burlap and used a doilie to give some texture.  Then I cut the circle heart tag from one of the Daily Deck cards.  

 

I wrote the recipe on another Daily Deck card and stapled it of the back of the bag.

 

 

I moved onto the utensils, customizing the wooden handles with washi tape from both the We R Family and Urban Autumn collections.  These were super easy to make and they look fantastic.  Add some Mod Podge over the top to make them more durable.  

 

 

I finished off the set with some ribbon from my craft room and the perfect saying, Daily Dish, cut from another Daily Deck card.  I glued a wood veneer heart to give the banner one final touch!

 

 

Homemade gifts are fun to create, especially when using Lily Bee products!

Challenge Tuesday | Gift Giving

Hello! Diana Fisher here with you today to challenge you to make (rather than buy) a gift box this holiday season. If you don't have a Cameo or Cricut to cut a digital file, there are also plenty of templates online where you can trace or measure out the dimensions for a gift box.

Here is my gift box to get you motivated! I used the We R Family collection .

For a second challenge, I dare you to use a collection that is not meant for the holidays. These gorgeous fall colors and patterns work so well for a subtle holiday gift.

Throwback Thursday | 2 Page Layouts

Hi Lily Bee fans! Welcome to another Throwback Thursday. Our theme this week is 2 page layouts. For my layout I used a favorite family photo from 16 years ago. I wanted the photo to be the star of the layout so I enlarged it to 8 1/2 x 11 to take up the entire space of one side of the 2 pager.

The side of the layout without a photo is simply embellished with a metal badge and Sweet Spot Enamel Stickers. 

I added a couple embellishment clusters in two corners of the photo.

I hope this week inspires you to try a 2 page layout. If it seems a little intimidating to you, try filling one side with your photo and the other side for your title and journaling.

Challenge on Tuesday | 2 page layouts

Good morning Lily Bee fans!!! Today is the first Tuesday of the month, which means it's time for a new monthly sketch!

This week, the Design Team will be sharing some 2 page layouts and keeping that theme in mind, this month's sketch is a 2 pager!

Here is the sketch:

 

Truth be told, it has been YEARS since I have sat down to scrapbook a 2 page layout. I was suprised it didn't take too much time to get back into the swing of it and I do like the result!

Here is my take on this month's sketch:

Once I got over my initial fear - I realized - 2 pagers are a great way to incorporate a lot of photos and I tried to do just that, using 5 photos and a daily deck card, instead of a photo.  It also gives you a lot of space, perfect for larger titles, like this one I cut from my Silhouette Cameo out of some paper from the We Are Family collection.

I dove into the Tiny Tablet and punched a lot of circles and stitched around them, instead of using a sheet of patterned paper.

Focus on Monday | 2 Page Layouts

Hello Lily Bee Friends!  I am so excited to be introducing this week's "focus!"  We are going to spend this week sharing two page layouts!  Here's the layout I created using the We R Family collection:

And here are some of the details:

I cut the title from patterned papers using my Silhouette Cameo.  I love how it's so easy to make titles that coordinate perfectly with the other patterned papers on the layout.

I cut some of the ends off of the 4x6 cards to make little tabs to tuck under some of the photos:

I also added some sweet spot stickers for a bit of interest!

Finally, I added some letter stickers to some of the paper strips for journaling:

I have always really liked including two page layouts in my scrapbooks, but I know it's really a challenge for some of my scrappy friends.  Hopefully this spread and the other ideas we'll be sharing throughout the week will inspire you to add a two-page layout to your own personal scrapbook soon!

Cards on Wednesday | Pinterest Inspiration

In case you missed it here the past few weeks, Lily Bee has some new collections: Urban Autumn and We R Family. I sat down to create two cards using these new lines. I also used Pinterest as a jumping off point for my inspiration. I was pulled toward the Aztec prints, golds and browns, as well as nature images.
You can see above the collage I created, and below are the cards I made to get you inspired to create using these new collections.
This first card is a mini card. It is smaller than a normal 4x6 card and in that a 3x4 card from the Urban Autumn Daily Deck fits perfectly in the center.
I love the wood veneers from that collection, too, so I used them to anchor the busy patterns. Sweet Spot Enamel Stickers from the We R Family collection made the perfect little dots in the leaves.
For the second card, I went back to the 4x6 size and cut pattern paper to fit the background. A 3x4 card adds dimension, and a nice circle cut out leaves room for the Urban Autumn Metal Badge.

I added some of the We R Family Enamel Stickers on top of the badge. The "together" pennant came from the wood veneers package from We R Family. I had fun mixing these two collections for these cards. And using Pinterest is always great to get your crafty mojo going.

Focus on Monday | Color Inspiration week

Good morning Lily Bee fans!! This week the Design Team will be bringing you projects that were all inspired by different color combinations!

Here is today's inspiration piece from Design Seeds:

When I look at this color scheme, it reminds me so much of the great colors in the new Lily Bee Design line URBAN AUTUMN! So, I got to work to create this page:

Supplies: Urban Autumn (Tri-State, Spiced Latte, The Village Park, Gingered Cider, Oktoberfest, Wood Veneers, Metal Badges, Daily Deck Cards, Washi Tape); We Are Family (6x6 Tiny Tablet, Wood Veneers, Washi Tape); Pinwheel (Letter stickers)

I used some different pieces of the patterned paper from the color inspiration piece and lined them up along one edge of my page and added in a few of the Daily Deck cards.

I added in a lot of the fun wood veneers in the Urban Autumn collection too! Love the naturalness of them and they co-ordinate with so many colors!

I added in some punched circles and sequins to finish off my page.

Focus On Monday | Gratitude

This week is all about gratitude at Lily Bee Design and today I'm sharing a layout with you about something I'm very grateful for - my family! 

Lily Bee Supplies: We Are Family (Family Time, Mother Daughter, Family Rules, Family Heirloom, Family Tree, Sibling Rivalry, Family Ties papers; clear stamps; wood veneer; Sweet Spot enamel stickers)

 

I knew that the new We R Family collection would be ideal for this page, with its rich saturated color palette and subtle family graphics. I began with the clear stamps, using watermark ink and the circle outline stamp to create a polka dot pattern on my background. I filled some of the circles with the family icons, words, and hearts.

 

Then I used four 2" strips of the patterned papers to highlight circular photos of every family member.  I backed each photo with a fussy cut doily from the Family Time paper.

A die cut title (I used the font Mission Script for the word "grateful") and a sprinkling of the wood veneer hearts and enamel stickers finish it off.

Project Life Friday | Daily Deck & Clear Stamps + Urban Autumn Blog Hop Winner

Hi friends!  I was scheduled to join you last week, but the fun blog hop delayed my post so I am extra excited to be here today - and since I jumped up a week, I opted to include themes from BOTH weeks on my project life spread - daily deck cards AND clear stamps from the We R Family Collection!

I chose pocket pages that would allow me to use both horizontal and vertical photos and daily deck cards.  I did a little bit of altering/embellishing on a few of the cards:

And I used the clear stamps to create some fun photo mattes for two of the photos I trimmed down to 4" square. 

First I stamped the open circles and then I added the "bro" stamp in altering colors.

And to finish off the photos, I added a couple of fun embellishments - badges and sweet spot stickers:

Throwback Thursday | Clear Stamps

Good Morning Lily Bee friends Summer here and welcome to another edition of throwback Thursday. Throwback Thursday is a fun new twist which we recently added to our blog line up. It can be anything from using older techniques, to using older product or even scrapbooking older photos.

This week our focus is on our new clear stamps.

For this throwback Thursday I decided to use an old photo. I pulled this photo out on Monday to honor my grandfather since he served in the Navy and I knew I wanted to use it for this project.

I created the center embellishment block using a combination of patterned paper and stamps. I used to consider myself stamp-a-phobic. Let's be honest I still cannot stamp directly onto a project I immediately freak out and mess up. But I have leared over the years to conquer this fear by stamping on smaller bits of paper and then incorporating these images on my projects.

Cards On Wednesday | Clear Stamps

Hello Lily Bee fans! It's Diane, with Cards On Wednesday featuring the new clear stamps. The coordinating stamps for the new collections are a fabulous addition to the line-up of products. I've used them on almost every project I've created since they've landed in my hot little hands.

I created two cards for you today, using the stamp set and other products from the We R Family collection.

On this first card, I used the heart stamp to create a random heart background and added a sentiment using letter stickers a coordinating metal badge.

This next card, features the adorable house stamp with an enamel heart sticker accenting the chimney. I added the sentiment with some letter stickers and finished it off with a metal badge and ribbon.

Challenge Tuesday | Card Sketch

Hello! Diana Fisher here with you today with a sketch to get you motivated to make some cards. The holidays are right around the corner, so I'm sure some of you need a little extra mojo to get those cards completed.

This week I am also focusing in on the new stamps in the We R Family Collection.

Here is a sketch to get you started:

And now, here are two different ways I used the sketch.

For this first one, I made the strips with one sheet of paper (Family Heirloom), but cut out the traingles to help separate the lines on the card. Fun enamel hearts (Sweet Spots) add a pop of whimsy to the card. I used the TOGETHER pennant stamp for my sentiment.

For my second card, I used strips of paper from the 6x6 tiny tablet version of the same Family Heirloom pattern. The smaller traingles helped to narrow the focus of the strips, unlike the larger triangles above. I used the heart and circle from the stamp set for a central focal point on the card.
